User Interaction Experiment

Here is a small experiment I've been working on. The goal is to create a grid component that will interact with multi-touch gestures and reverse engineered to interact similarly with a mouse. I deviated slightly from the goal mid way and began to focus on the transition of elements. The version I'm posting is simply a roughdraft, and shouldn't even be considered a working model. Once I rewrite the code I'll see about posting up the source.
First thing I'd like to point out is the transition from one index to the other. At the moment it errors on the side of too quick. It may even make you sick if you look at it for too long. I have noticed this specifically when clicking to navigate, and haven't noticed much issue when gesturing. This could be due to the 'wow' factor, maybe we're not paying enough attention to the right things. If you have any feed back I'd love to hear it. We'll provide more technical information soon.
Second, the blur is using a cheat at the moment. It would simply cost too much memory to blur every moving element, so we're only moving the important ones. At any given time there are three item's on screen. So, those are naturally the ones users will focus hardest on. The transition will only blur the three upcoming indexes, and will leave the others alone. The amount of blur takes a few things into consideration, length of the transition, speed of the transition, and a blur coefficient for regulating. So although it is relatively accurate, it is not a true motion vector blur. Not yet anyways. The next model will have a more sophisticated motion mechanism that will be a significant step up from this one.
This model was compiled using Flash Player 9. It does not take advantage of the more advanced multi-touch systems of 10.1, this is simply a test of the boundaries between traditional user interaction and physical user interaction. The model posted does not have gesture or multi-touch capabilities. Look forward to the future!
The model uses middle mouse wheel to simulate a swipe gesture. Because it doesn't play nice with the browser scrollbar I've decided to post it on a separate page. Enjoy.
